After reading both pieces I have concluded that people take time to learn about others. As a future educator, I try to do the same with different people. I personally love learning all about people's beliefs, culture, and where, and how they grew up. I think it is so cool how many people's personalities for from just their environment and who they spend time with. The first article S.C.W.A.A.M.P talked about ideology and all the different things that may be part of someone's ideology. Something in the second piece was that another said " All of us are part of the problem. There is no way to avoid that as long as we live in the world. But we could also make ourselves part of the solution if only we knew how. " This stood out to me because especially in today's society we all contribute to judging or being disrespectful and sometimes we struggle to fix our behavior. Overall I would say these are both very good reading and I learned a lot.
I like that you connected our reading to what you want to do as a future educator! I think that it is important that as teachers that we learn about our students and are open to the diversity that we may have within our classrooms. Similar to you I would also like to learn about my students and be able to incorporate their culture into different lessons so that way not only do I get a chance to learn about my students but the other classmates get to learn about each other.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you started your blog post by connecting the readings to yourself, especially how you want to be a teacher. It is so true that people need to take the time to learn about others. You also choose a really touching quote. Its so true that we are all a part of a problem, but we have to work together to solve it.
ReplyDeleteI wrote something similar to the quote you used. I completely agree with what you wrote. It is important to understand that everyone contributes to the main problem, that being societal differences. Nice Work!
ReplyDeleteHey Audrey,
ReplyDeleteAs a future educator it's important to learn about your students and connect with them. You always will learn from your students. People make assumptions about others and make options of people that they don't even know.
