Other People Children (#2)

 Welcome to my third blog!

Today, I am going to be talking about a part of a reading we read which was titled "Other People's Children".  I honestly thought that the story was going to be about people's thoughts on others.  The main idea of this story is the author talks about the cultural conflicts and misunderstandings that are often in classrooms where teachers and students come from different cultural backgrounds. Throughout the reading, she emphasizes the importance of understanding and valuing the diverse experiences that students may bring to the classroom. As I am working towards becoming an educator this is something that I plan to improve on in my own classmates. Something else that stood out to me was her argument that traditional teaching methods may not always be effective for all students. I agree because I was one of the students who with some teaching techniques did not work for me my plan was to make sure that all my students could learn to the best of their ability. Overall I would recommend taking some time to read this, I learned so much and can't wait to continue to learn throughout this course.

  1. Yes I agree that the reading was very informative and I also learned a lot from it. It touched on very important topics that us as future teachers should know about. It is important to be able to make students feel comfortable and also challenge them to learn at the same time.

  2. I agree that not one teaching method works for all students and that's why I think it is so important that as teachers we learn from each other and truly consider other teacher's suggestions. As a a future educator, we will never know what kinds of students we will have and no matter the differences we may share we all have the same goal for wanting our students of any kind to learn.

  3. I agree that the reading discusses that students come from different backgrounds, this is always important to keep in mind as a teacher, your class will be made up of many different types of students and all should be represented within it. No matter the differences in the classroom, the teacher should always focus on having each student succeed.
